Indian Oil launches 10 kg composite LPG cylinder as Kerala restaurants struggle with fuel price surge
Indian Oil introduced Indane XTRALITE NOW, a 10 kg composite LPG cylinder featuring a translucent body and four‑hour express home delivery. The launch, announced by Chairman A. S. Sahney, aims to provide a safer, more convenient LPG experience and will initially be available in Pune, Gurugram, Indore and Coimbatore, with expansion to additional cities through 2026.
At the same time, restaurant owners in Kerala warn that sharp increases in LPG prices—rising from about ₹1,740 to ₹2,951 for a 19 kg cylinder and from ₹4,351 to ₹7,373 for a 47.5 kg cylinder—are threatening their profitability. Azeez Moosa, district president of the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association, said the higher fuel cost, combined with rising wages and input prices, is delivering a "killing blow" to small eateries.
