Indian Oil Tankers Safely Cross Strait of Hormuz

Three Indian‑flag crude‑oil tankers successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday despite ongoing regional tension. The vessels – Webhu, Vobhor and Sin Mar Harald – are carrying a combined 860,000 metric tons of crude and 94 Indian crew members. Webhu, with 37 crew and 286,572 t, and Vobhor, with 27 crew and 288,893 t, are expected to dock at Gujarat’s Vadinar and Sikka ports on 24 June, while Sin Mar Harald, with 30 crew and 285,400 t, is slated for India’s east coast on 1 July.

The crossings come after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to reopen the waterway, even as Israel’s actions in Lebanon have revived security concerns. Iran’s joint forces warned of further steps if violations continue. India’s Minister of Shipping, Sarbananda Sonowal, posted on X that safeguarding maritime interests and energy supplies remains a top priority for the Modi government.
