Indian Olympic Association denies special cricket accommodation for Asian Games

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced it will not provide special accommodation for cricket players at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, citing a policy of equal treatment for all 36 sports in the Indian contingent.

The men’s cricket team has been assigned the three-star APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae, while the women’s team is allocated the four-star Meitetsu Grand Hotel. Both assignments utilize twin-sharing rooms, which falls below the five-star standard typically utilized by Indian cricketers.

IOA CEO Raghuram Iyer stated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may choose to make independent arrangements following an assessment of the facilities. However, if the BCCI opts for separate housing, the board must bear all costs for accommodation, food, and transport, while ensuring players arrive at venues on time. The IOA emphasized that all security, accreditation, and access protocols would still apply to any independent arrangements.
