Indian Olympic Association probes Hockey India harassment allegations

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has established a four-member independent inquiry committee to investigate allegations of harassment and intimidation against Hockey India secretary Bhola Nath Singh. The probe follows complaints from former women’s national team captain Asunta Lakra, who accused Singh of intimidation after she raised concerns regarding the alleged sexual harassment of junior players by a coach in Jharkhand.

Headed by retired High Court judge Deepa Sharma, the panel includes former athlete Vandana Rao, former national captain Mamta Kharb, and advocate Sitwat Nabi. The committee was formed following directives from the Union Sports Ministry.

IOA President PT Usha has instructed Hockey India to provide full cooperation, including the timely provision of all relevant documents and information. Hockey India is also responsible for covering all costs associated with the inquiry, including travel, lodging, and honorariums.
