Indian Olympic Association Sends Off Team to 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) held a ceremonial send‑off in New Delhi for the 124‑member Indian contingent that will compete in ten sports at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2. The event unveiled the official ceremonial and competition kits, designed by Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports, with the theme “Invisible Trajectories”. Senior officials attending included Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who said, “Our athletes are ambassadors of New India's sporting excellence,” IOA President P.T. Usha, British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron, and Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh.

Star athletes leading the squad are javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, decathlete Tejaswin Shankar and boxer Lovlina Borgohain. The contingent includes both able‑bodied and para‑athletes, and the Games will serve as a learning platform for India’s 2030 Ahmedabad Commonwealth Games observer programme.

The ceremony also featured a ramp walk by athletes showcasing the new kit, symbolising India’s aspirations for strong performances at the Games.
