Indian Opposition leaders to meet over parliamentary strategy

Opposition party floor leaders in India are scheduled to meet at the Rajya Sabha office to coordinate strategy for upcoming parliamentary proceedings. The meeting follows intense criticism from opposition members regarding the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the House.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has demanded that Amit Shah address Parliament to explain the police action taken against student protesters in Delhi. Gandhi questioned whether the crackdown involved culpability or incompetence, specifically regarding the use of pellet guns and physical force against students.

Additionally, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor announced a firm stance against the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and Delimitation bills. Opposition members have expressed concerns that the government is attempting to pass these legislative measures while avoiding direct accountability for recent civil unrest and student protests at Jantar Mantar.
