Indian police arrest cannabis smuggler and fugitive opium supplier

Police in India have conducted separate operations resulting in the arrest of individuals involved in drug trafficking.

In Naigaon, the local police arrested 30-year-old Mehbub Nisar Shaikh, a welder, following a tip-off. Officers intercepted the suspect near the Vakipada Chandika Devi Temple, where they discovered 8 kilograms of cannabis hidden in a trolley bag. The seized narcotics are valued at approximately 2.21 lakh rupees. Shaikh has been charged under the NDPS Act and remains in police custody following a court appearance.

In the Sirohi district, the Abu Road RIICO police apprehended Laxmilal Suthar, a primary opium supplier who had been absconding for seven months. Suthar was located in Nikumbh, Chittorgarh, after police teams conducted multiple raids. He is identified as the main supplier in a March case where approximately 6.34 kilograms of illegal opium were seized by the Pindwara police.
