Indian police arrest suspects in stock trading and overseas job scams
Law enforcement agencies in India have dismantled two separate fraudulent operations involving financial and employment scams.
In Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, police arrested four members of an interstate gang operating under ‘Operation Matrix 2.0’. The group allegedly used social media and a fraudulent website to lure victims with promises of high profits from stock market trading. The gang utilized ‘mule accounts’ to receive stolen funds, with members providing kits containing ATM cards, passbooks, and checkbooks to facilitate transactions. Authorities seized 62 ATM cards, multiple electronic devices, a laptop, a MacBook, an ATM swap machine, and cash.
In Bihar, the Kishanganj Police, in collaboration with the Bihar Special Task Force, arrested two individuals, Haji Nahid Gani and Mohammad Tabrez, in connection with a job scam. The suspects are accused of deceiving youths from the Kishanganj and Purnia districts by promising employment in Dubai. The victims reported being forced into different work conditions and lower wages than originally promised. The arrests follow investigations into several cases involving illegal overseas placement and fraud.
