Indian police dismantle interstate ganja smuggling network

Police in Nalgonda, Telangana, arrested an eight‑person gang—including a minor—suspected of transporting ganja and hash oil from Odisha. The raid seized about 5.6 kg of cannabis, 100 ml of hash oil, five motorcycles, two mobile phones, a dummy gun and other items, with the contraband valued at roughly ₹10 lakh. The detainees were identified by name, and police said four additional suspects remain at large.

In a coordinated operation, Odisha police also captured a key financial and logistical operative of the same syndicate in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The suspect is linked to a larger network that moved ganja from Kandhamal to several northern states. Assets seized in the broader case total nearly ₹4 crore, including bank balances, land, vehicles and gold jewellery. With this arrest, the total number of suspects apprehended across the involved states rises to nine.
