Indian police dismantle major cybercrime networks in Jamshedpur and Pratapgarh
Police in India have conducted significant operations against cybercrime syndicates in Jamshedpur and Pratapgarh.
In Jamshedpur, a joint team from the Ramgarh and Jamshedpur cyber police stations raided a residence in the Birsanagar area. The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals and the detention of the homeowner, a retired Tata Steel employee. Authorities seized over 20 mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, laptops, and a significant amount of cash. The raid followed an investigation into a 43 lakh rupee fraud case in Ramgarh.
In Pratapgarh, police uncovered a massive cybercrime network spanning 19 states. Over a six-month period between April 18 and October 27, authorities arrested 53 suspects. Investigations into these cases revealed a money trail totaling approximately 500 crore rupees. The scale of the financial transactions and the interstate nature of the complaints have prompted further investigation into the network's full scope.
