Police departments in India have successfully recovered numerous lost and stolen mobile phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
In Kolhapur, the cyber and district police conducted a joint operation that recovered approximately 400 mobile phones valued at 1.25 crore rupees. The devices were lost or stolen in crowded areas during festivals and travel. Through technical analysis and the CEIR portal, authorities tracked the devices across various districts in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Similarly, in Seraikela, the Tiruldih police station recovered two mobile phones after tracking their IMEI numbers via the CEIR portal. Following identity verification, the devices were returned to their rightful owners.
