Indian Police Roll Out New Surveillance Plans for Pilgrimage and Crime Tracking

The Uttar Pradesh government is implementing a "zero incident, zero accident" strategy for the Kanwar Yatra scheduled from July 30 to September 11, 2026. Measures include prohibiting meat and liquor outlets along the pilgrimage routes, mandating visible shop name boards, and expanding surveillance through additional CCTV cameras and drone monitoring to safeguard the millions of devotees expected to travel during the Shravan month.

In parallel, the Faridabad police have launched the RSJF drive covering the districts of Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat and Faridabad. The operation targets 3,499 serious offenders recorded over the past decade, with 2,212 physically verified so far. Authorities are pursuing legal action against bail‑jumpers and their sureties under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, aiming to strengthen monitoring and prevent further serious crimes.

Both initiatives reflect a broader effort by Indian law‑enforcement agencies to enhance public safety through intensified surveillance and stricter enforcement measures.
