Indian police seize 10 kg of 24K gold worth 42 billion VND
Indian police have seized over 10 kg of 24K gold, valued at approximately 153.9 million rupees (over 42 billion VND), following a vehicle collision on the Agra-Lucknow expressway on August 22.
The seizure occurred after a Suzuki Brezza SUV collided with a police vehicle. Upon inspection, authorities discovered ten gold bars in a bag. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Sandeep Jaiswal, 29, and Saroj Pant, 33, both of Nepalese nationality, were unable to provide valid documentation or invoices for the gold.
Tax authorities and customs officials are investigating the incident, noting signs of an international gold smuggling ring. Preliminary investigations suggest the gold was being transported from the India-Nepal border through Gorakhpur toward Delhi, where it was intended to be delivered to an unidentified recipient using a code and license plate verification system.
