Indian police seize 15.5 kg of heroin and charas in Punjab and Himachal arrests
Police in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district stopped a motorcyclist near Nagabari Toll Plaza and recovered 2.532 kg of charas. The suspect, 33‑year‑old Ashwani Kumar of Pathankot district, Punjab, was arrested and a case was filed under the NDPS Act.
Punjab’s Counter‑Intelligence unit in Amritsar dismantled two alleged heroin‑smuggling networks, arresting three men—Akashdeep Singh, Mangal Singh and Baljit Singh. Officers seized a total of 13 kg of heroin, 8 kg from Singh’s residence in Amritsar and 5 kg from a car intercepted on the Amritsar‑Chabal GT Road, and impounded the vehicle. Further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain.
