India Police Crack Down on Cocaine Trafficking Network Across Cities

Delhi Police’s Railway Unit arrested two Nigerian women, Chikanso James and Happiness Okoye, at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station on July 31. A search of their luggage uncovered eleven packets of cocaine weighing 2.288 kg, valued at roughly Rs 20 crore. The drugs were seized and the suspects’ passports confiscated as investigators probe links to a larger supply chain.

In Pune, police launched a “surgical strike” against local drug mafias, registering 162 cases, arresting 283 individuals and seizing narcotics worth ₹11.28 crore. The operation targeted interstate traffickers and introduced a rehabilitation model for drug‑dependent youths.

Separately, Dimapur police in Nagaland dismantled an alleged interstate cocaine syndicate that used commercial couriers. Five suspects were detained and about 33 g of cocaine was seized; investigators say the network had connections to a Nigerian national. The coordinated actions across Delhi, Pune and Dimapur highlight a nationwide effort to disrupt cocaine trafficking routes that involve foreign nationals and logistics channels.
