Indian police solve multi‑lakh robberies in Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha

Police in the northeast Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh arrested three suspects after a three‑week investigation into a daylight robbery at a shop in Itanagar’s Gandhi Market on 22 June. The thieves used a concealed knife to threaten the cashier and stole roughly Rs 13 lakh in cash. Investigators analysed over 500 hours of CCTV footage, tracked mobile phones and followed the suspects across East Kameng, neighbouring Assam and other parts of Arunachal Pradesh before making the arrests. Some of the stolen cash was traced to the purchase of vehicles and mobile phones, with assets recovered and a bank account frozen.

In the eastern state of Odisha, police in Jharsuguda busted an inter‑district burglary gang that targeted foreign‑liquor shops on 8‑9 July. Four men from Ganjam district were detained after stealing cash and liquor bottles and assaulting a night watchman at one outlet. Special investigation teams reviewed CCTV recordings, gathered technical intelligence and conducted field enquiries, leading to the suspects’ capture. The arrests were overseen by senior police officials and highlight a coordinated effort to curb property crimes in the region.
