Indian Potash Limited to revive Badamba sugar mill and promote scientific farming

Indian Potash Limited (IPL) is preparing to restart the Badamba Cooperative Sugar Mill in Odisha after it has been closed for more than 15 years. The company is investing approximately Rs 360 crore to modernize the facility, which will include a sugarcane crushing capacity of 3,500 tonnes per day, a 16 MW co-generation power plant, a 10-tonne-per-day Bio-CNG plant, and a modern cold-storage facility. The project is expected to benefit roughly 10,000 farmers in the Badamba block of the Cuttack district by providing an assured local market.

Separately, IPL is participating in the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela, an agricultural science fair organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. At the event, the company is providing farmers with information on crop nutrition, balanced fertilizer management, and sustainable agricultural practices, specifically promoting the ‘6R’ principle to increase productivity while reducing cultivation costs.
