Indian Railways announces new Amrit Bharat Express and route changes

Indian Railways has announced several updates regarding train operations in India. Due to platform upgrade work at Puri Station in the Khurda Road division, four weekly Gandhidham-Puri Express trains will face route changes. From August 26 through October 2026, these services will be partially cancelled or short-terminated/originated at Maltipatpur Station instead of Puri.

Specifically, train number 22973 will short-terminate at Maltipatpur from August 26 to October 14, 2026, while train 22974 will short-originate from Maltipatpur starting August 29 until October 17, 2026. Similarly, train 12993 will short-terminate at Maltipatpur from August 28 to October 16, 2026, and train 12994 will short-originate from Maltipatpur from August 31 to October 19, 2026.

In addition to these changes, a new Amrit Bharat Express service will launch on August 26, connecting Bhagalpur in Bihar to Ahmedabad in Gujarat. This new service aims to meet increasing passenger demand and improve connectivity between the two states, offering various amenities and scheduled morning departures to reach Ahmedabad by evening.
