Indian Railways approves ₹133 crore road bridge project
Indian Railways has approved the construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section of the Western Railway. The project is estimated to cost ₹133.2295 crore, which will be split equally between Indian Railways and the state government.
The bridge design includes an Open Web Girder (OWG) for the railway portion, estimated at ₹91.60 crore, a viaduct portion measuring 311.58 metres, and a railway approach portion of 524.32 metres. Due to a 62% skew at the crossing location, the project is expected to involve significant design and construction complexity.
The new grade-separated infrastructure aims to facilitate smoother road traffic movement and reduce interference with railway operations, ultimately improving the safety, efficiency, and reliability of train movements on this section.
