Indian Railways expands Amrit Bharat Express service

Indian Railways is expanding its Amrit Bharat Express service, starting a new weekly route between Coimbatore Junction in Tamil Nadu and Dhanbad Junction in Jharkhand on August 25. The service will connect South India to Eastern India, traversing seven states: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

The train's composition includes eight sleeper class coaches, 11 general second class coaches, two luggage-cum-brake vans with facilities for disabled passengers, and a pantry car. The service aims to provide modern, safe, and affordable long-distance travel for students, traders, and senior citizens.

Additionally, the railway is preparing to launch Amrit Bharat 3.0 within this fiscal year. This upgrade will introduce air-conditioned coaches, including AC First, AC 2-tier, and AC 3-tier, similar to the amenities found on Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express trains. Current Amrit Bharat trains utilize push-pull technology to reach speeds of up to 130 km/h and feature modern amenities such as USB charging points, foldable snack tables, and improved toilet facilities.
