Indian Railways expands Rail Neer bottled‑water plants to 19 sites across the country

The Ministry of Railways announced that Indian Railways now operates 19 Rail Neer bottled‑water plants nationwide, each capable of producing 100,000 bottles daily. The plants, set up under a public‑private partnership model, cost about ₹10 crore per unit (excluding land), and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been tasked with locating new facilities as demand grows.

Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav disclosed the expansion in a written reply to Parliament, listing locations in states such as Delhi, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. The initiative aims to provide safe, affordable packaged drinking water to passengers on major trains and at stations, reducing reliance on private brands.
