Indian Railways expands services with new Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains

Indian Railways is expanding its premium and affordable services with new train approvals. The Railway Board has formally approved seven new Amrit Bharat Express trains designed to provide high-speed, economical travel for low and middle-income passengers using push-pull locomotive technology. These routes will connect major industrial and cultural hubs across states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Telangana.

Key new routes include the Dhanbad-Coimbatore service, connecting eastern coal regions to southern textile hubs, and the Gorakhpur-Bandra Terminus service, linking eastern Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai. Additionally, a Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat service will address high passenger demand between the capital and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

In a separate development, plans are underway to introduce a sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express running between Bhagalpur, Bihar, and Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. Eastern Railway has submitted the necessary technical and operational reports to the Railway Board. Once final approval is granted, the official schedule and stops will be announced. This service is expected to provide significant relief to travelers during major festivals such as Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath.
