Indian Railways expands special train services and deploys AI for crowd control
Indian railway authorities are implementing several operational updates and safety measures. Western Railway has extended the service period for the Bandra Terminus–Azamgarh weekly special (05184/05183) until late November 2026, and the Bandra Terminus–Jaipur weekly superfast special (09706/09705) until November 30, 2026, to accommodate increased passenger demand.
At Ringas Railway Station, the Jaipur Division is deploying 20 AI-based cameras to manage large crowds during the Diwali, Chhath, and Khatu Shyamji festivals. These cameras will provide real-time alerts to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) if passenger density exceeds set limits.
Additionally, North Western Railway has concluded its ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ 2026 campaign, which ran from September 17 to October 2. The initiative focused on cleanliness and environmental awareness across stations, trains, and railway colonies, with a follow-up cleanliness fortnight scheduled from October 1 to October 15.
