Indian Railways extends special train services to manage passenger demand

Indian railway divisions have announced several extensions and new services for special trains to manage increasing passenger demand and festive travel.

Western Railway has extended multiple weekly special services through November 2026. Notable extensions include the Bandra Terminus-Bhagat Ki Kothi service, which will run until November 1, and the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga weekly special, which has been extended until November 30, 2026. Other services serving Bihar and Rajasthan have also seen schedule adjustments to accommodate travelers.

Central Railway is introducing four additional Ganpati Special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kolhapur on September 12 and 14, 2026. These services aim to assist commuters during the festival period.

In the Kota Division, three pairs of special trains—including the Sogaria-Mathura Superfast and the Jaipur-Bharatpur special—have had their operating periods extended until September 15, 2026, to alleviate pressure from increased seasonal traffic.
