Indian Railways faces disruptions due to construction and rainfall
Railway services in India are facing significant disruptions due to both infrastructure construction and weather-related damage.
In Bina, Madhya Pradesh, construction of a third railway line will impact schedules from September 20 to October 16. During this period, 16 trains will be cancelled and 48 trains will be diverted to alternative routes to facilitate technical work on tracks and signaling.
Separately, in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, heavy rainfall has caused a 50-meter section of railway track to sink near the Baripada station market. This damage has led to the cancellation of several services, including the Bangriposi-Bhubaneswar Superfast Express and the Bhanjanagar-Rupsa MEMU. Railway authorities have initiated repair work on the damaged section to restore normal operations.
