Indian railways implement new signaling technology and safety awareness campaigns
In India, railway authorities are implementing new safety and security measures across different regions. Eastern Railway has successfully commissioned the Multi-Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) system at Barrackpore Station. This technical upgrade provides an independent method for train detection, enhancing signaling reliability and reducing delays, particularly during heavy rainfall when traditional track circuits are prone to failure due to waterlogging.
Separately, in Sambhajinagar, the Railway Police Superintendent, Sandeep Palve, launched an awareness campaign at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station. Using street plays featuring performers in Charlie Chaplin costumes, the initiative educates passengers on physical safety—such as avoiding boarding moving trains and using footbridges—and cybercrime prevention. The campaign advises citizens against sharing sensitive banking information like OTPs and encourages reporting suspicious activities or lost mobile phones via the CEIR portal and the 1930 helpline.
