Indian Railways implements new safety protocols and track renewal
Indian Railways has implemented new safety protocols for non-interlocked railway crossings to reduce human error. Under the new regulations, gatekeepers must display a red flag or red light on both tracks before opening a gate after a train has passed. Additionally, gatekeepers can no longer open gates at their own discretion; they must receive a private number and explicit permission from the station master after confirming the last coach has passed.
These new rules have been implemented with immediate effect in the Prayagraj region, including crossings such as Tharwai and Sadhanganj. The changes aim to ensure that no other trains are approaching from either direction before the crossing is reopened.
In a separate infrastructure development, the Kota Division is utilizing advanced Simplex Quick Relaying System (SQRS) machinery to renew tracks on the busy Kota-Nagda section. Between the Luni Richha and Vikramgarh Alot stations, the engineering team successfully renewed 516 meters of track within a single three-hour traffic block. Over the past 15 days, approximately 2.8 kilometers of track have been renewed using concrete sleepers to enhance load capacity and passenger safety.
