Indian Railways launches 112 special trains for Onam festival

Indian Railways has announced the deployment of 112 special train services to accommodate the significant surge in travelers during the Onam festival in Kerala. The expansion aims to alleviate congestion on standard routes and facilitate travel for millions of devotees and holidaymakers.

The special services are primarily scheduled to run between mid-August and early September, covering the peak festival period. The deployment includes 54 trains operated by the Southern Railway zone, with the remaining 58 services managed by other regional divisions.

Key routes include connections between Chennai, Mangaluru, and various destinations in Kerala such as Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kollam, Kozhikode, and Kannur. Additional connectivity will be provided for passengers traveling from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, Hyderabad, and Santragachi, ensuring broader regional access during the festivities.
