Indian Railways mandates full bedroll kits for RAC passengers in AC coaches

The Railway Board issued an order on 4 August 2026 directing that every passenger holding a Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) ticket in AC classes (excluding AC Chair Car) must be provided with a complete bedroll kit. The kit includes a bedsheet, blanket, pillow and towel, matching the amenities given to confirmed passengers. The directive reiterates earlier letters from December 2023, December 2017 and November 2016 that highlighted ongoing complaints about missing or incomplete kits. All zonal railway general managers, as well as IRCTC and related departments, have been instructed to enforce strict compliance and ensure the provision reaches millions of RAC travelers across the country.

The order aims to eliminate discrimination in passenger amenities and to address the persistent grievances of RAC ticket holders, improving comfort for travelers in Indian Railways’ AC coaches.
