Indian Relay Racing returns to Casper this September

The 2026 MHS Indian Relay Races—Battle for the Rockies—is scheduled to take place on September 19-20 at the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo grounds in Casper. The event will feature elite teams from various nations across the United States and Canada.

This year introduces the Mandan Hidatsa Arikara (MHA) Indian Horse Relay, a new event for Central Wyoming. The competition showcases traditional horsemanship, involving teams of riders, muggers, and holders using multiple horses in high-speed exchanges.

In addition to the racing, the weekend will feature Native American cultural traditions, including authentic dancing, drumming, music, and artisan crafts. Organizers have issued a warning regarding third-party ticket resellers, noting that unauthorized sellers may charge inflated prices and provide invalid tickets. Attendees are advised to purchase tickets exclusively through the official Central Wyoming Fair website.
