Indian Sensex and Nifty Surge on July 30 as IT, Metal Gains Offset Crude Oil and Fed Headwinds

India’s major equity indices posted strong gains on July 30. The BSE Sensex climbed about 889 points to finish near 77,654‑77,726, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose roughly 265 points to close around 24,250, each gaining just over 1 %. The rally was led by information‑technology stocks, with the Nifty IT index up about 2.3 %, and metal stocks, with the Nifty Metal index also up about 2.3 %. Foreign Institutional Investors bought roughly Rs 2,981‑2,982 crore of Indian equities, providing additional support.

Despite the market’s advance, analysts noted that higher Brent crude prices – trading near the $88‑$90 per‑barrel range amid renewed US‑Iran tensions – and the US Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged (with a 9‑3 split vote) remained headwinds. Nonetheless, domestic fundamentals and continued foreign fund inflows helped the market stay resilient.

Overall, the combination of strong sectoral performance and modest foreign buying offset the macro‑economic concerns, delivering a broadly positive trading day for Indian investors.
