Indian shooters achieve historic success at 2026 Asian Games
Indian shooters achieved historic milestones at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Neeru Dhanda emerged as a standout performer, winning two gold medals and one silver medal in trap shooting. Her individual gold marked the first time an Indian woman has won an individual trap shooting gold at the Asian Games. Additionally, Dhanda secured a gold in the mixed team trap event alongside Kynan Chenai, setting a new Asian Games record.
Due to her performance, Dhanda has been named India’s women’s flag-bearer for the games' closing ceremony.
In the women’s skeet team event, Maheshwari Chauhan, Raiza Dhillon, and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured a bronze medal. This achievement represents India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the women’s skeet team category. Chauhan noted that while the team is grateful for the support, they are already looking toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
