Indian states launch digital land resurvey initiatives

Indian states Assam and Andhra Pradesh are implementing large-scale digital land resurvey initiatives to modernize land administration and reduce disputes.

In Assam, the government is launching Mission e-Jorip. This initiative aims to resurvey all cadastral villages using advanced technology, including Global Navigation Satellite System/Real-Time Kinematic (GNSS/RTK) Rovers. The project includes the development of the e-Jorip Portal, a digital platform designed for real-time survey operations, automated quality checks, and seamless integration with existing land records to ensure transparency and accuracy.

In Andhra Pradesh, the ‘Re-survey 2.0’ program is underway with the goal of making the state land-dispute-free by March 2027. The survey is being conducted across several phases involving thousands of villages. Approximately 2,800 teams equipped with advanced rovers are performing the work. Officials have emphasized the importance of farmer participation, mandatory e-KYC registration, and verifying boundary details against relevant documents in the presence of landowners.
