Indian stock markets rebound after sharp Tuesday sell-off

Indian equity markets experienced significant volatility between Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, the BSE Sensex fell 1.04 per cent to close at 74,003.82, while the NSE Nifty 50 dropped 1.19 per cent to 23,118.60. This sharp sell-off was driven by rising crude oil prices, which remained above $107 per barrel, and concerns over elevated US bond yields.

On Wednesday, the markets showed signs of recovery in early trading. The Sensex and Nifty both opened higher, supported by buying in the FMCG, banking, and auto sectors, as well as strong performance from IT stocks like HCL Tech and Infosys. Despite this rebound, investor sentiment remains cautious due to high energy costs and anticipation of the US Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate policy decision.
