Greta Thunberg joins London rally celebrating Indian minister's resignation
Hundreds of students and members of the Indian diaspora gathered at Trafalgar Square in London for a solidarity protest organized by the UK unit of the Students' Federation of India (SFI‑UK). The demonstration celebrated the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after a 36‑day agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over alleged NEET exam paper leaks. Protesters waved the Indian flag, chanted “Azadi”, and carried placards demanding the scrapping of the NEET exam and broader education‑system reforms; some also called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation.
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg attended the rally, praising the Indian students as a symbol of “people power” and urging global solidarity with their struggle for justice, democracy and liberation. She reiterated that the movement showed what can be achieved when people unite against injustice. The protest was part of a wave of solidarity events that spread to other UK cities and abroad, highlighting the international support for the Indian student movement.
