Indian Subcontinent geopolitical analysis of potential Christian political zones

Geopolitical discussions in the Indian subcontinent have touched upon the theoretical possibility of a Christian-majority political entity. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina previously alleged a conspiracy to carve out territories from Bangladesh and Myanmar to establish a Christian state, potentially supported by a foreign military base in the Bay of Bengal. While these allegations were largely dismissed as conspiracy theories, analysts suggest that while a conventional independent nation is highly improbable, a transnational political-geographic zone linking Christian-majority populations across the eastern Himalayan and Bay of Bengal region remains a subject for strategic consideration.

Significant Christian populations exist within the region, particularly in areas such as Mizoram and Manipur. However, the creation of a sovereign state would require territory, political organization, armed capacity, economic viability, and international recognition, all of which face significant geopolitical hurdles involving the interests of India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
