Indian tourist drowns after falling from boat at Pulau Tioman

An Indian woman, Sabiya Shiek, 65, drowned after falling into the sea while attempting to board a boat following a scuba diving activity at Renggis waters near Pulau Tioman.

According to Rompin District Police Chief Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi, the victim was participating in a discovery scuba diving session with seven family members, two instructors, and a dive master. After completing a 15-minute dive, the victim requested to return to the boat. While her daughter was helping her remove her diving equipment, the victim slipped while climbing the boat ladder and fell back into the water.

Instructors conducted a search and located the victim unconscious on a sandy seabed approximately 15 minutes later. She was transported to the Kg Tekek Health Clinic, where medical officers confirmed her death. The body has been moved to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for autopsy.
