Indian weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav wins Commonwealth Games silver
Indian lifter Gyaneshwari Yadav earned a silver medal in the women’s 53 kg weight‑lifting event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, posting a total of 199 kg (88 kg snatch, 111 kg clean‑and‑jerk). She finished behind Nigeria’s Onome Omolola Didih, who set a Games record with a 206 kg total, and ahead of Canada’s Rebeka Groulx, who took bronze with 178 kg.
Yadav, a 22‑year‑old from Chhattisgarh, entered the competition as the top‑ranked Commonwealth lifter after winning bronze at the Asian Championships and gold at the 2023 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships.
