Indian women’s hockey team reaches Asian Games semifinals

The Indian women’s hockey team has advanced to the Asian Games 2026 semifinals after finishing the pool stage unbeaten. In their final Pool B match, India defeated Singapore with a 7-0 victory.

Goals for India were scored by skipper Salima Tete, Sunelita Toppo (who scored twice), Lalremsiami, Rutuja Dadoso Pisal, Nikki Pradhan, and Deepika. While Singapore provided early resistance through disciplined penalty corner defense, India dominated the proceedings to top Pool B with five wins from five games.

India’s progression follows an earlier 3-1 win against Japan. The team is now scheduled to face South Korea in the semifinals on September 30. The other semifinal will feature defending champions China against the host nation, Japan.
