Indian Youth Congress protests against Election Commission

Members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest in New Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters, dressed as ‘living ghosts’ in black robes, white masks, and skull decorations, accused the Election Commission of irregularities regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Led by IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, the demonstrators alleged that many living citizens have been erroneously removed from voter lists. The group attempted to march from their office on Raisina Road toward Jantar Mantar but were prevented from proceeding by police.

Chib stated that the Election Commission must maintain impartiality and accountability to protect the sanctity of the vote. The protest included participants wearing masks featuring the faces of Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while raising slogans such as ‘Save Democracy’ and ‘CEC, resign’.
