Indiana administration cuts professional licensing times by half

Governor Mike Braun announced that the Indiana administration has reduced average professional license processing times by half. According to data released by the governor’s office, the average wait time across all license types decreased from approximately 11.8 days in January 2025 to 5.9 days in July 2026.

The administration reported significant improvements across various sectors, including professional, technical, healthcare, and public safety fields. Notable reductions include auctioneer licensing, which fell from 16 days to 0.63 days, and funeral director licensing, which dropped from 50.82 days to 2.5 days. Physician licensing also saw a major decrease, moving from 7.47 days to 0.84 days.

Governor Braun stated that the initiative aims to cut red tape and remove barriers to employment without compromising safety, training, or skill requirements. The administration noted that faster licensure provides a more direct path to employment and increased earnings for residents.
