Indiana allocates $110 million for local infrastructure
Governor Mike Braun has announced nearly $110 million in Community Crossings Matching Grants to support infrastructure improvements across Indiana. A total of 346 cities, counties, and towns will receive the state matching funds to enhance local roads and bridges.
The funding was presented during the 43rd Annual Indiana MPO-IARC Conference in Kokomo. Under the program, local governments must contribute matching funds to participate. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) noted that more than $2 billion in matching grants have been awarded for local road improvements since 2016.
While the program’s annual matching grant cap is set at $100 million, INDOT has exceeded this limit during the past two fiscal years due to cost savings. The current grant cycle follows applications submitted in September for the 2027 fiscal year. Individual local government recipients are limited to $1 million per state fiscal year.
