Indiana apartment fires result in one death and one hospitalization
Two separate apartment fires occurred in Indiana on Friday, resulting in one fatality and one hospitalization.
In Marion, a fire at the Prince Hall Plaza apartments led to the death of one individual. Firefighters rescued the person from the two-story building, during which two firefighters sustained minor injuries. The Grant County coroner responded to the scene, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
In South Bend, an early-morning fire broke out at the Fairington Apartments. The blaze, which appeared to originate near a bathroom exhaust fan in a second-floor unit, was contained within approximately 10 minutes. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a hospital for evaluation. No other injuries or property damage to other units were reported.
