Indiana Attorney General warns of scams following severe storms

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has issued a warning to residents regarding potential scams following severe weather across the state. Recent storms, including a powerful derecho with wind gusts approaching 100 mph and significant flash flooding, have caused widespread damage, power outages, and road closures.

Rokita advised Hoosiers to remain vigilant against fraudulent repair offers and deceptive schemes that often target communities during recovery efforts. He emphasized that FEMA does not charge application fees and urged citizens to research contractors through the Better Business Bureau and verify licenses and credentials before making payments.
