Indiana attracts 69 companies and approves $5M AI supercomputer grant

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) reported that 69 companies, including Amazon, are moving business to Indiana. This influx is expected to create over 5,000 new jobs with wages exceeding the national average, potentially generating $437 million in new payroll for residents.

To bolster research and artificial intelligence, state officials approved a $5 million grant for a state-of-the-art supercomputer. This project is a joint venture between Indiana University and NVIDIA aimed at establishing the state as a leader in AI innovation.

Governor Mike Braun addressed concerns regarding data centers, stating that companies must meaningfully invest in their communities and contribute to the electrical grid rather than seeking local tax abatements. Additionally, the state is exploring the possibility of hosting the U.S. Space Academy.
