Indiana cyclist killed in Henry County road collapse

A 31-year-old man, James Briar of New Castle, died after riding his bicycle past flood barricades into a collapsed section of road in Henry County, Indiana. The roadway had been damaged by flooding the previous week. Briar was discovered dead near the intersection of Riley Road and Crescent Drive early Sunday morning.

This incident brings the total number of weather-related fatalities in Indiana to seven following a series of severe storms. Other recent deaths in the state include an 18-year-old found in the Mississinewa River, a woman and her dog in Delaware County, a 4-year-old boy in Jennings County, and a woman in Gary struck by roofing material. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is also investigating another fatality in La Porte County.
