Indiana drivers face felony charges in separate fatal crashes

Two separate fatal drunk-driving incidents in Indiana have resulted in significant legal actions against the drivers involved.

In Indianapolis, 42-year-old Bradley Woods is scheduled to plead guilty to three felonies, including reckless homicide and not staying at the scene of an accident causing death. Prosecutors state that Woods hit and killed 20-year-old Avery May in 2023 and fled the scene without providing information. Under a proposed plea agreement, Woods could face up to 15 years in prison, with a 10-year cap at the Indiana Department of Correction. Additionally, Paige Woods faces obstruction of justice charges for allegedly attempting to remove evidence from the scene.

In Dearborn County, 46-year-old Steven Witte faces multiple felony charges following a June 12 collision on State Road 350. Authorities report that Witte crossed the centerline in his pickup truck, striking a vehicle head-on. The crash killed Jordan and Sierra Walters, both 33, and injured their two young children who were also in the vehicle. Witte has been charged with several counts of operating while intoxicated involving a controlled substance and causing death, as well as operating while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury. Witte was recently taken into custody following a separate arrest for methamphetamine possession.
