Indiana Education Initiatives Expand Grants and School Policies

A statewide grant program administered by the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation will distribute $30,154 to 72 Indiana K‑12 schools for field trips to state parks, benefitting an estimated 5,019 students. Since its inception in 2013, the Discover the Outdoors Field Trip Grant Program has funded more than $108,500, supporting transportation, program fees and classroom supplies for outdoor education.

In Warren Township, superintendent Dr. Tim Hanson announced new statewide cell‑phone and smartwatch restrictions, the construction of 16 additional classrooms for four elementary schools, and the return of fifth‑grade students to elementary campuses. The district will welcome about 900 incoming freshmen at Warren Central High School with a staggered start and a campus‑familiarisation program.
