WNBA Playoffs: Fever even series as Liberty make history

In the WNBA playoffs, the Indiana Fever and New York Liberty achieved significant milestones. The eighth-seeded New York Liberty made history by sweeping the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx 2-0, becoming the first No. 8 seed in league history to eliminate a No. 1 seed. Key performances for the Liberty included 21 points from both Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart.

In another series, the Indiana Fever evened their first-round matchup against the Las Vegas Aces with a 99-89 victory in Game 2. Caitlin Clark recorded a playoff career-high 15 assists and 27 points, despite vomiting at halftime due to exhaustion and receiving a technical foul. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston also contributed heavily to the win. The series moves to Las Vegas for a decisive Game 3.

The Fever-Aces game was also marked by a heated confrontation between Aces star A’ja Wilson and a courtside fan. Wilson was assessed a technical foul after the exchange. While Wilson described the fan's behavior as ‘unacceptable,’ the Indiana Fever stated that arena security determined the fan did not violate the code of conduct, and he was permitted to remain in the arena. Separately, the King Center announced that Wilson will receive the 2027 Beloved Community Youth Influencer Award for her foundation's work with young girls.
