Kelsey Mitchell sets WNBA single-season scoring record

Kelsey Mitchell set a new WNBA single-season scoring record on Friday, scoring 33 points to reach a total of 1,034 points. Her performance led the Indiana Fever to a 103-85 victory over the Toronto Tempo at the Coca-Cola Coliseum. Mitchell surpassed the previous record of 1,021 points set by A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces in 2024.

Mitchell’s record-breaking night was supported by Caitlin Clark, who recorded 28 points and 14 assists. Clark also reached a season milestone by leading the league in assists per game with 8.5. The Fever victory marks their eighth win in their last 10 games, strengthening their position in the playoff race.

The Toronto Tempo, playing without key players like Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes, suffered their fifth consecutive loss. Despite 22 points from Laura Juskaite, the Tempo struggled to keep pace with the Fever’s offense, which leads the league in scoring.
